A 60-YEAR-OLD businessman was robbed and beaten at his business place at Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Friday.

Reports indicate that the businessman was in his shop when the suspects approached and ordered two beverages.

Soon after, the two men pulled out handguns and forcefully entered the secured area of the shop, assaulted and relieved the sexagenarian of a sum of cash and jewellery.

Police Press Officer (PRO) Jairam Ramlakhan said as law enforcement officers were making diligent efforts to quickly apprehend two robbery suspects, their victim who was assaulted, received medical attention and was sent away.

After carrying out the daring daylight robbery, the robbers fled the scene in a waiting silver Toyota Blue Bird motor car.
