BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Chadwick Walton stroked his 20th first class half-century to steady Jamaica Scorpions but opener Shayne Moseley gathered his second of the match, as Barbados Pride tightened their grip on their final round encounter in the Regional Four-Day Championship here yesterday.

Resuming the third day at Kensington Oval on 93 for three, Scorpions rallied to 247 all out in their first innings, with the right-handed Walton top-scoring with 72.
West Indies limited overs all-rounder Rovman Powell struck a quick-fire 43 while captain Nikita Miller chipped in with 27.

Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican grabbed the last three Scorpions wickets to end with three for 34, while off-spinner Roston Chase (2-34) and pacer Justin Greaves (2-36) picked up two wickets apiece.

In reply, Moseley hit an unbeaten 87 to close in on his second first-class hundred while Test opener Kraigg Brathwaite made 50 not out, as the hosts finished on 147 without loss.
The left-handed Moseley, who made 79 in the first innings, has faced 153 balls in 156 minutes and struck 10 fours and a six.

Brathwaite, meanwhile, has counted five fours in 94 balls at the crease.
On 33 without loss at tea, the pair controlled the entire final session as Pride stretched their advantage to 327 runs, heading into today’s final day.
Earlier, Scorpions survived a wobble at the start of the day to consolidate, thanks to Walton’s enterprise.

Paul Palmer, yet to score at the start, fell inside the first 19 balls of the day for two when he edged a drive at Greaves and was caught at the wicket with 16 runs added.
His replacement, all-rounder Fabian Allen, was run-out in the following over without scoring, failing to beat Keon Harding’s direct throw from mid-off at the striker’s end.
Walton halted the rut, combining with Powell to post 68 for the sixth wicket in an enterprising stand.

While Walton faced 82 balls and struck 10 fours and a six, Powell belted six fours and a couple of sixes in a 47-ball cameo.

Scorpions suffered two key blows before lunch, however, when Walton was caught around the corner at leg slip by Shamarh Brooks off Chase half-hour before the break, and Powell was taken at mid-wicket by Greaves off the same bowler, four overs later.
Tottering on 200 for seven at lunch, it was left to Miller with four boundaries in a 57-ball knock, to get the visitors closer to 250.
