IT’S being termed ‘Basketball Meets Fashion-Reload,’ and the Linden Amateur Basketball Association hopes that the weather which badly affected the first initiative would hold for this second iteration.
Such is the case that the National Club Champions Bounty Colts are set to face their arch rivals Victory Valley Royals who the narrowly beat 85-83 in the National Club championship final in December, journeying to the Mining Town to clash I the main event tonight(Saturday) at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.
Colts should be led by their captain Dave Causway and include such players like Stanton Rose, Shane Webster and Shelroy Thomas, while the Royals are banking on Chris Williams, Orlando Glasgow, Harold Adams and Yannick Tappin to see them past their rivals this time around.
The event conceptualized by the LABA President, Lawrence Simon will bounce off the 2018 basketball season with a bang as there will be an east versus west Under 20 basketball supporting game on the night where fashion designers Ms. Setra Oselmo and Ms. Crystal Lam will be featuring their various pieces throughout the night.
The fashions will includes cheer leaders outfit for the basketball teams in Linden and also several sports persons who would have excelled in sports last year will be honoured.
At the same time a number of individuals who have contributed to sports over the years will also be awarded for their efforts. Ansa McAl Trading through its Magnum Brand is the major sponsor of tonight’s proceedings and while that tonic drink will be the main drink for the night there will be other products on sale along with several giveaways for some patrons in the stands.
A special 3 on 3 girls’ event will also be part of a night where the stars will be out.
The Under-20 game will bounce off the night’s proceedings from 19.00hrs and the big game is set for 21.00hrs on what should be a very relaxing but entertaining night with the stars.
