A 37-year-old miner was on Wednesday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the capital offence of murder.
Vivie Harris was not required to plea to the indictable charge which alleged that on December 20 at Waramuri Mission, Moruca River he murdered Rondea Peters called ‘Ninja.’
Harris was remanded to prison until January 3 when the matter will recalled at the Acquero Magistrate’s Court.
According to police reports on the day in question the two men were in the Moruca area consuming alcohol when Peters left the table. When he returned, he was accused of stealing two bottles of High Wine and a scuffle later ensued between him and one his accusers. He was stabbed at least five times to the body.
