COMMANDER of ‘F’ Division (Lethem and other interior locations), Senior Superintendent Ravindradat Budhram is urging the public to report any misuse of police vehicles so that condign action can be taken against the errant rank.

“If any accidents occur, an investigation will be done and whoever is at fault actions will be taken against,” he said over the weekend at the handing over, at the Bartica Police Station, of 11 new All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and three pickups to the Division.
Noting that reckless behaviour will not be tolerated under his watch, Commander Budhram said the new fleet of vehicles is a godsend, particularly at this time of year when crime is at its highest.
He assured his audience that a maintenance plan is in place at the Division to adequately take care of the vehicles, as well as a database and system of daily inspections.
Noting that those who will be driving the vehicles have undergone a two-day refresher course on use and maintenance, Commander Budhram said that in order for the vehicles to be put to use, ranks will have to sign for the keys and fill out a handing-over form after every shift. The name of the station and emergency number will also be printed on the sides of each vehicle.
