IT is with great sadness that the Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO) received the news of the passing of one of Guyana’s true patriot, Cde. Ally Baksh. He was a mentor and exceptional example for young people in the party, demonstrated by his integral role in nurturing and developing the careers of many leaders. Cde. Ally’s loyalty, commitment and selflessness in the struggles against oppression, discrimination and dictatorship were most admirable. He was a wise counsel, patience and attentive qualities made him an exceptional leader.

Cde. Ally was a strong believer in young people and played particular emphasis on their involvement at all levels of leadership. To the end, he was a guiding force and inspirational motivator to the PYO. He spoke with passion about the youth arm as he himself played a crucial and fundamental role in its early days. The PYO recommits itself to the continuation of the struggle and service to the Guyanese people, especially the youth, in memory of our great mentor.

To the family, we express our sincere condolences on the lost of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and true patriot of Guyana. He was a blessing to the people of Guyana, especially in Region Two and we thank God for sharing him with us.
