GUYANA Defence Force (GDF) Chief of Staff, Brigadier Patrick West congratulated all participating teams at the Final Force Quarterly Fitness (Run and Shoot) Competition of the year.

The two-day event conducted at Base Camp Stephenson, Timehri, successfully concluded Friday morning.
The 31 Special Forces Squadron (31SF Sqn) “A” Team won the competition among the male teams, while the Four Engineer Battalion finished in second place with the G2 Branch finishing in third.

Base Camp Stephenson females took top honours among the three participating female teams, with the Guyana People’s Militia (GPM) females finishing second.
Brigadier West expressed satisfaction at the enhanced and determined efforts of the teams which resulted in very keen competition of a high standard.

Teams from the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service also participated and provided good competition for their peers.
Teams competed in areas which include Swimming, Ravine (rope) Crossing, Map Reading and Navigation, Rappelling, the completion of a 5km Run, Kit Inspection, the completion of the Obstacle Course, and Falling Plate Shoot.

All events were completed within set times and teams either earn points or have points deducted as penalties along the way.
