Several streets to close for Diwali Motorcade on Wednesday evening

The Guyana Police Force is informing members of the general public that in order to facilitate a smooth flow of this year’s Diwali Motorcade Celebrations throughout Georgetown and East Coast Demerara, the following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic on Wednesday from October 18, 2017 from 17:00h.

– Sheriff Street and Campbell Avenue
– Sheriff and Pike Streets (No entry south)
– Sheriff and First Streets (No entry north)
– Campbell Avenue and Seaforth Street
– Campbell Avenue and Delph Street
– Campbell Avenue Austin Street
– Campbell Avenue and Middleton Street (No entry east)
– Campbell Avenue and Railway Street
– Sandy Babb and Alexander Streets
– Sandy Babb and Vlissengen Road
– Thomas Lands and Albert Street (No entry east)
– Vlissengen Road and Barr Street
– Vlissengen Road and David Street
– J.B. Singh Road and Carifesta Avenue
– Kitty Public Road and Vlissegen Road
– Sheriff Street and Rupert Craig Highway
– Sheriff and David Streets (No entry north)
– Rupert Craig Highway and Conversation Road (No entry north)
– Railway Embankment and Conversation Road (No entry north)

The police said that motor vehicles will not be permitted to park on the Northern side of the East Coast Public Road between Conversation Tree and the LBI Community Centre Ground during the motorcade.

In addition, motor vehicles proceeding west along the East Coast Public Road will be diverted at Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, to the Railway Embankment Road.
Motor vehicles proceeding east along the East Coast Public Road will be diverted at Conversation Tree to the Railway Embankment Road.

No motor vehicle will be allowed to proceed on the East Coast Public Road between Conversation Tree and the LBI Community Centre Ground during the motorcade.
Motorists are asked to cooperate with the police ranks who will be directing traffic during the event.
Any inconvenience caused is regretted, the police stated.
