A COUPLE accused of scamming victims by inducing them to donate monies to a fake church-feeding programme was on Friday jointly charged on two counts of fraud.
Kevin Smith, 34, and Tamika Times, 25, both of Dowding Street, Kitty appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman and denied both charges.
It is alleged that the couple on September 29 at Georgetown obtained with intent to defraud from Nale Ramit $1,000 by pretending they were authorised to obtain money on behalf of the Full Gospel Assembly Children Feeding programme.
It is further alleged that on the same day and location the duo obtained $1,000 from Claire Thomas under the same pretence.
According to reports the duo had a form which was purportedly from Full Gospel Assembly asking for donations.
The two accused allegedly managed to collect monies from two persons but on a third attempt, the victim noticed that the form did not have an authentic stamp from the church. The magistrate released the duo on $20,000 bail for each of the two charges. The matter is adjourned until October 20.
