Remanded until Oct. 25

–for possession with intent

A BOURDA Market vendor was on Wednesday remanded to prison by City Magistrate Fabayo Azore for trafficking cannabis.
Ras Paris, 30, denied that on October 3 at North Ruimveldt, he had 448 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
According to reports, on the day in question, police raided the accused’s home and found him with a black plastic bag in his hand.
On searching the bag, they found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems of what they suspected to be cannabis.
Police prosecutor Simone Payne objected to the accused being granted bail, on condition of the seriousness and penalty attached to the charge.
The unrepresented man told the court that he is innocent of the charge, since the drugs were not found on him. He further said that he currently has a similar matter before the court.
Magistrate Azore ruled in the prosecution’s favour and remanded Paris until October 25.
