A 44-year-old contractor was robbed of his gold chain valued at $1,680,000 at Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) early Sunday morning.
According to police, the man was robbed at gunpoint around 01:45hrs.
The two male suspects who reportedly committed the act have been apprehended and are assisting with the investigation of that and a recent robbery involving a couple.
Minutes after the robbery, ranks of a police anti-crime patrol responded and arrested one of the suspects who was on a motorcycle.
Based on information received on the identity of the other suspect, several searches were done and he was apprehended. The suspects, ages 26 and 31, reportedly hail from Mon Repos and Beterverwagting, ECD.
The police report noted that the stolen article has not been recovered, but the motorcycle which was used, has been found.
