AFTER dismantling the rest of Guyana’s rugby teams to win back-to-back Sevens tournaments, Panthers turned their attention to the Bounty Farm 15’s tournament, where they opened with 67 – 7 against the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
Playing at the National Park, Panthers sent a warning to the rest of Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) that they intend to dominate the game’s longer format, as they eased to a 27 – 0 lead at half time against the Police team, compliments of Osei McKenzie, Rondell McArthur and Lancelot Adonis.
However, in the second half, Akeemo James slipped through a crack in Panthers’ seemingly air-tight defence to score his team’s lone try in the match, while Daniel De Abreu made good the conversion.

Lloyd Anderson tallied 18 points in the game, scoring most of them in the second half and helped the Panthers to score 40 points. Daniel Anderson who was the team’s second highest scorer on the day, putting in three tries (15 points), was also pivotal in the Panthers’ devastating run.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s game between Yamaha Caribs and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was postponed to a date to be determined by the GFRU, due to a ‘no show’ by officials.
The Bounty Farm 15’s tournament will conclude on November 12. The tournament will see five teams playing two rounds of matches. (Rawle Toney)
