Labourer charged with drug trafficking

A 39-year-old labourer charged with drug trafficking was on Friday released on $30,000 bail by City Magistrate, Judy Latchman.
It is alleged that on September 7, 2017, Quacy Moore while at Bourda Market, had in his possession one gram of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The unrepresented man denied the charge and told the court that the drug was not found in his possession.
Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves objected to Moore being released on bail on the grounds that no special reason was provided to the court.
Gonsalves said too that the analyst report on the drug is still outstanding, and would properly take about two months given the current backlog at the Forensic Analysis Lab. However, despite the prosecutor’s contention, Moore was released on bail and the matter adjourned to September 25, when he will appear before Magistrate Leron Daly.
