THE Guyana Amazon Warriors are winning matches one by one as they continue their campaign in the 2017 edition of the Hero Caribbean Premier League.
In the process, they are also winning hearts one by one.
The team, led by Manager, Omar Khan and Captain, Rayad Emritt, last week visited the Cinderella County of Essequibo to show support for their fans there.
The team ended their home leg of the series by giving back to the locals of Regions Two ( Pomeroon-Supenaam) and Three ( West Demerara-Essequibo Islands) shortly before they departed for Barbados.
They first met with the children of the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) who asked questions, interacted with their favourite cricketers and got their flags and banners autographed..
According to GTT Public Relations Officer (PRO) Allison Parker, the idea behind the visit to the NOC was to show those students there that sport can be an uplifting factor.
“We took the GAW to the NOC as an inspiration to the NOC residents. We wanted to remind them that they are still valuable and also to aspire them to a new lifen to be stars themselves one day in some field of endeavour.
It forms part of our overall goal of our Youth Involvement Programme, especially at the community level.”
While there, the unit took the time out to also visit fans at the Imran Bacchus Supermarket.
