A MAN is now hospitalised after he was struck down by a popular attorney -at -law in Berbice.

According to reports, around 19:40 hrs on Friday, August 18, the attorney and former magistrate who was identified as Chandra Sohan of Palmyra Village, East Berbice, Corentyne, was proceeding in motor vehicle PJJ 6060 south along the Williamsburg
Public Road when he reportedly collided with a male pedestrian who attempted to cross the public road. It was also reported that the driver left the scene without rendering assistance.

According to a release from the Guyana Police Force, the man who is yet to be identified was subsequently picked up and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital He was then transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital and then to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains a patient in a serious but stable condition.

Meanwhile, the attorney was arrested and held at the Rose Hall Police Outpost, where a breathalyzer test was conducted. He was subsequently put on $100,000 bail andt he police are continuing their investigation.
