THE truck driver involved in last Thursday’s fatal accident on the Houston Public Road is expected to be charged sometime this week with causing death by dangerous driving.
The police have confirmed that based on the findings of the post mortem, which was done on Friday, 71-year-old Chitratkha Sankar died of multiple injuries.
The pensioner was killed when she was knocked over by a Canter truck as she stood waiting next to a utility pole near the median on the Houston Public Road last Thursday.
Reports are that Sankar, of Houston, was heading to clinic when the accident occurred at around 06:45hrs. The Canter was reportedly heading to Georgetown at the time.
The woman’s body was removed from the scene by a police pickup and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to one eyewitness, “This Canter truck just pick up this woman from right in the corner, dragging her on the concrete separation, crushing her to death.”
