–for opening of New Waramuri Secondary School
ALTHOUGH the start of the new school year is more than a month away, parents of students assigned to the new Waramuri Secondary School at Moruca have already commenced preparations for when school opens.
On Monday, parents and teachers banded themselves together and undertook a self-help project to spruce up the school’s surroundings, including the removal of several trees which stood close to the building.
Work on the North West District (NWD) school commenced last year after the finances were approved for its construction.
Last year, Minister of State, Joseph Harmon announced at a post-Cabinet media briefing that the contract for the construction of the school was awarded to Sattaur Mohammed and Sons Construction and Hardware Supplies.
Based on information provided by the Regional Education Officer (REO), Nigel Richards to GINA, financing for the project was approved by the Ministry of Finance, to the tune of $17, 920, 864 for a building measuring 50 by 70 feet.
The new structure will accommodate a school population of more than 250 students.
