Three held for La Penitence robbery

THREE suspects are in police custody after a vendor of La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara, was robbed at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown, Saturday night.

The man was robbed of gold jewellery valued over $500,000, his Nighthawk Motorcycle CH 7050 and $570,000 cash by two armed bandits.
According to reports, the 48-year-old vendor during a visit to his girlfriend in Middle Road, La Penitence, decided to check on his car which was parked at his girlfriend’s home.
While making checks inside the car which was parked on the northern side of the road, two men came up from behind, held him at gunpoint and relieved him of his valuables.
They also seized the keys to his motorcycle which they used to flee the area. The motorcycle was later found abandoned on Durban Street, Lodge. When contacted,the police confirmed that there was a robbery but no shots were fired.
Police later apprehended three suspects: a 25-year-old of Hadfield Street, Lodge; a 29-year-old of Werk-en-Rust; and a 32-year-old of Durban Street, Lodge, Georgetown.
