Editor’s note

Coming off the heels of Team Guyana’s stellar performance at the recent Global Robotics Challenge in Washington D.C., and the feeling of immense pride that Guyanese have experienced as a result, it became quite clear that this week’s focus would do well to zero in on technology and the youth. The transformative effects of technology on our everyday lives can no longer go unnoticed.

Technology has changed everything, so much so, that, the way in which we do things; the way in which we seek to achieve our goals and the choices that young people will make when building their careers, have all, unavoidably, begun to seamlessly intertwine with various aspects of this phenomenon, which has arguably become a necessity in today’s world.

So as you read about STEM Guyana’s preparations in this week’s Pepperpot; or at the initiatives being implemented by private and public sector to create a technology-driven society; or even as you look at preparations for Carifesta and see one group making history to represent Guyana in the category of animation for the very first time, it is our hope that in the back of your mind, you consider the critical role that technology plays in all these things, and the need for us to rally behind future-thinking initiatives in order to provide our youth with the resources they need to succeed in this technological age.
