St Joseph record second win;
Nations’ rebound from first-round loss

ST Joseph high registered their second win in as many matches in the second round of the Sir Garfield Sobers Int’l Schools Cricket Tourney,defeating St Michael’s School of Barbados by seven wickets at Bank Hall, Barbados.
Batting first,St Michael’s were bundled out for a paltry 112 off 33 of their allotted 40 overs. Jared Lovell topscored with 30,while Kai Patrick and Codie Ramsey weighed in with 20 and 15, respectively. Bowling for St Joseph, Stephon Wilson bagged 3-25, skipper Kennard Moonsammy 2-4 and Nkosi Beaton 2-18.
Taking their turn at the crease, the ‘Joseph’ lads made light work of the meagre total, reaching 113-3 off 19.5 overs.
Skipper Kennard Moonsammy lead the way with 33, while Stephon Wilson completed a solid all-round performance, following up his three-wicket haul with an unbeaten 31; Timothy McCalmont chipped in with 27. Kyle Edwards took 2-24 for St Michael’s.
Meanwhile, School of the Nations rebounded from their first-round loss, defeating St Leonard’s School of Barbados by 86 runs mainly through a stellar all-round performance by Mark Ramsammy. ‘Nations’ took first strike and compiled 178 off 34 overs. Ramsammy top scored with 33, while Ariel Tilqu contributed 25 and Christopher Kowsilla and Vishal Persaud,19 apiece. Nigel Desriveres claimed 6-33 and Aleyandro Davis 3-37.
Replying, St Leonard’s were routed for 92 off 26 overs. Mark Ramsammy returned with the ball to capture 5-17 and he was ably supported by Bheem Hardyal and Chris Kowsilla, who claimed 3-16 and 2-7, respectively. For St Leonard’s, Kcey Williams made 26, Rashoud Eli 15 and Aleyandro Davis, 11. (Anthony Layne)
