SEVENTY-FIVE soldiers from units across the Force as well as two from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) have commenced training on the Junior Leaders Course 2017-02.
The JLC will run for 12 weeks and is intended to equip soldiers with the necessary skills to lead and administer a section, squad or equivalent in peacetime or combat.
Deputy Chief of Staff (COS), Colonel Nazrul Hussain, officially declared the course open on Friday at the Colonel Ulric Pilgrim Officer Cadet School (CUPOCS) lecture hall, Base Camp Stephenson.

He implored the soldiers to work hard for best results. The two Trinidadian soldiers, LCPL Alister Maxwell and PTE Adrian Haynes, have indicated that while the training thus far is arduous, it has brought them close to actual combat since they are exposed to grenades and other battle handling exercises, for the first time in their military careers.
The Course will cover a number of a number of areas including Open and Close Country Warfare, Drills, Field Craft, Military History, Skill at Arms,Signals,First Aid, Leadership and Administration.
