PRIME Minister Moses Nagamootoo on Saturday took part in symbolic drumming to mark the opening of FetNA Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
He had delivered the keynote address earlier in the morning and said that culture is a vehicle for social change, and should not be used to promote division or conflicts. “Our literature, poetry, songs and dance are expressions of a people’s soul, and cannot be suppressed,” Prime Minister Nagamootoo said.
In his address, he noted that Tamil is an ancient and rich language, and invited FetNA to work with social groups in Guyana to teach Tamil.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo also highlighted progress made by the coalition Government to achieve inclusivity and social cohesion.
