Man found on roadway dies in hospital 

A DRUNKEN man who was found lying on the roadway at First Street, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Independence Day and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital died Saturday.

Dead is Narine Singh Mei, 54, of Latchman Singh scheme, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Reports indicate that the dead man’s sister, Rohini Bani Mei, 59, of Lusignan Railway Embankment ECD received a phone call and a female related that her brother was dozing on the roadway in First Street, Lusignan ECD.

As a result, she sent her nephew to check on him. On arrival, the nephew found Mei in a conscious condition with bruises on his forehead and a small wound on his left hand.

He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted.

Mei was pronounced dead Saturday morning. Police are investigating.

Residents in the area said he was last seen gambling in the area.
