A TAXI driver accused of stealing a woman’s handbag and other items was released on $25,000 bail by City Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Wednesday.
Michael Douglas, 33, of Norton Street, Wortmanville, is charged with simple larceny. He denied that on May 20, 2017 at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, he stole a handbag, two gold rings and $12,000 cash, totaling $144,000.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne made no objection to the accused being granted bail. Bail was granted and the matter adjourned to June 7, 2017.
