Georgetown man seriously injured in hit and run accident

A 32-year-old Campbellville, Georgetown resident is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was struck down on Tuesday night on the Yarrowkabra Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
He has been identified as Jogeswar Itwaroo and the police are on the hunt for the driver, who fled the scene of the accident, which occurred at approximately 19:45hrs. This newspaper understands that police were able to recover part of the licence plate, bearing the number, 703, at the scene.
Reports indicate that the vehicle was proceeding south along the said road and struck the pedestrian somewhere on the eastern side of the road. Itwaroo was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Diamond hospital where he was treated and referred to the Georgetown Hospital.
