Buzzing this weekend

THERE’S no better weekend than one that starts off with no work! And that’s just what we get to enjoy this weekend, as Indian Arrival Day helps start things off the right way FROM TODAY!

First off, you should probably take time off to celebrate Indian Arrival Day, and appreciate all that our Indian forefathers have contributed to this wonderful Guyanese cultural mix!
Naturally, there are going to be several Indian Arrival Day celebrations all across the country that you could attend to take in that Indian heritage. And the celebrations run throughout the weekend!

But while May 5 is significant in Guyana for being Indian Arrival Day, in most of the world, the date is known for the Mexican Cinco de Mayo celebrations! Both 704 and Palm Court will be hosting themed parties to that effect, if you feel up to it!

And, with next Sunday being Mother’s Day, New Thriving gets the ball rolling from this weekend with a tribute to mothers fashion event! There’s also a black-and-white party when the Palm Court party action continues tomorrow night!

But if you’re more into the creative arts, you may want to see what Culturama at the Theatre Guild is all about! As things wind down to Sunday, the Boyce and Jefford relay Festival is where you may want to be!
