ONE man was killed and another is in police custody after violent confrontations which resulted in a stabbing Tuesday morning at Water Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Dead is Mark Ifill, 44, called “Yankee” of Bagotstown, EBD. The father of one was reportedly deported from the U.S. several years ago.
The perpetrator, a father of five and one on its way, was identified as Sheldon Bowen, called “Muslim”, also of Bagotstown.

Police said enquiries disclosed that “Muslim” and “Yankee” had a heated argument over the removal of a water pipe by the latter from the former’s yard.
During the fight which ensued, “Muslim” reportedly dealt “Yankee” a blow to the head with an object and left, after the fight was parted by public-spirited persons.
But he would return minutes later with a knife and stabbed “Yankee” to the left region of his chest, causing him to run and collapse a short distance away.

A team of medical personnel from the Georgetown Public Hospital responded and pronounced Ifill dead. The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem.
