Woman lures taxi driver into robbery

A TAXI driver was lured to stop by a female on Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD) where he was robbed of a silver-grey Toyota premio motor car PTT 2541 after two men jumped in the rear seat of the vehicle Monday evening.
Police later found the vehicle abandoned and ransacked.

The taxi driver was identified as Narindra Singh, 24, of Cummings Lodge, ECD. Reports indicate that the man was robbed by two males and one female. One of the men was armed with a handgun.
According to reports, the taxi driver was flagged down by a female in Cummings Lodge and he stopped. Immediately after two men opened the rear doors of the vehicle and jumped in. He then related to the men that he was not working as per taxi, when one of the armed men held onto his neck and lashed him in his head with the handgun.

Reports further indicate that the driver fell unconscious and when he regained consciousness, he was on the parapet at Ninth Street, Cummings lodge. He reported the matter to the Turkeyen Police Station and the police acting on information, eventually recovered the car at Caneview Avenue in South Georgetown. The car was left abandoned and it was ransacked. According to the police, no one has as yet been arrested, as the investigation continues.
