…after confrontation between informant, plotter

A PROPOSED confrontation between the two persons associated with an investigation into a plot to shoot the Head of State came off Tuesday at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

This has been confirmed by Crime Chief Superintendent Wendell Blanhum, who went on to explain that the confrontation followed a process whereby the person making the allegation repeats the story going the rounds to the police, in the presence of the person against whom the allegation was made.
“On completion, the suspect is given the opportunity to respond, if he so desires, by admitting or denying the allegation…

“The police are in the process of dispatching the case file to the Police Legal Adviser,” Blanum said, adding that the men were not placed in police custody.
In an interview on Nightly News, a man alleged being approached by a prominent local businessman and offered a $7M contract to shoot President David Granger during one of his outreaches.

The whistleblower in the interview stated that the businessman told him, “President Granger, we have to have him assassinated before he moves from where he is living; because, of course, if he moves, his security will enhance and you can’t get to him.”
The informant explained that having told him what the plan was, the businessman next went into his house and returned minutes later with a large weapon.
He explained that he had initially approached the businessman about borrowing $6M when the proposal about assassinating the President was made.

“The next day,” the informant told Nightly News’ anchor, Travis Chase, “I go back to he and said, ‘Watch, me ain’t deh in dem t’ing yuh know; me ain’t even want you tell me back ‘bout that.” He claimed that he’d never before killed anyone, and he did not know why the businessman should choose him of all people to put a hit on the president.
