Young father remanded on armed robbery, ‘ganja’ charges

A RESIDENT of Festival City Entrance, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison on Tuesday by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the offences of armed robbery and illegal possession of cannabis.
Terry Holder, 21, pleaded not guilty to both charges. Particulars of the first charge alleged that on March 3, 2017 at Guyhoc, Georgetown, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Kurt Embrack of $140,000.

It is further alleged that on April 10, 2017 at Tucville, Georgetown, Holder had eight grams of cannabis in his possession. The unrepresented man begged the magistrate to grant him bail, since he is the sole breadwinner of his one-month old daughter and reputed wife.
“These people claim that is masked-men robbed them…. But how they know that is I rob them?” Holder said to the magistrate. Police Prosecutor Alwyn Moore, however objected to bail on the ground that a handgun was used during the commission of the crime. Bail was refused and Holder was remanded until May 3, 2017; the case was transferred to city Magistrate Judy Latchman.
