TEAM Coco’s Hamza Eastman chalked up his second win in two days and his sixth victory for the 2017 cycle season, as he returned two hours 43 minutes 54 seconds in winning the Team Coco’s-organised, Chin Chan Cycle Store-sponsored 70-mile road race on Sunday.
One day earlier, Eastman won the feature 35-lap race of the Hassan Mohamed-organised, Universal Auto Sales and General Supplies-sponsored 11-race cycle programme in the National Park.
Last Saturday, he out-sprinted a four-man bunch and won by a wheel. However, on Sunday he crossed the finish line all alone to grab the $50 000 first prize money.
Christopher Griffith, Michael Anthony, Walter Grant-Stuart, Akeem Wilkinson and Paul DeNobrega occupied the other top five places respectively.
The event got underway from outside Chin Chan’s Cycle Store on Robb Street, proceeded to Low Creek on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway before turning back to finish outside Chin Chan’s residence, Grove, East Bank Demerara. In the Masters 35-50 years category, Warren McKay was first, Leer Nunes second and Junior Niles third.
The Juniors category was won by Briton John. Second was Jason Cameron and finishing third was Adealie Hodge.
