Demerara Criminal Assizes open for April session

SOME 152 cases are slated to be heard during the April session of the Demerara Criminal Assizes which opened Tuesday.

The matters at reference are expected to be heard before Justices Jo-Ann Barlow and Navindra Singh.

Gaol delivery was done on Monday by Justice Singh, bringing to an end the January session, which commenced on January 10, 2017. A total of 19 matters were presented during the January session in the High Court of Demerara.

The Berbice February Assizes will continue until June 20, 2017, when the June Assizes is set to commence.

The Essequibo February Assizes will also continue until the May Assizes start on May 16, 2O17.
