… Jude Bike Shop hands over sponsorship for cycle races
JUDE Bike Shop, on Monday, handed over its sponsorship for the cycling races that will be a part of the upcoming Boyce and Jefford Relay Festival and Family Fun Day set for April 30 at Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
Proprietor of Jude Bike Shop, Jude Bentley, a former national cyclist who once competed at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, declared how happy he was to be able to give back to the sport of cycling as he handed over the sponsorship package.
This will be the first year that cycling will be introduced at the annual Relay Festival, which is observing its second edition this year.
The event will feature two cycling events. There will be a Devil-takes-the-Hindmost race for the males, which will carry a total purse of $50 000 – $25 000 going to the winner, $15 000 for second-place and $10 000 for the third-place. Replicas will complement the cash prizes.
The second race is expected to be a female event. However, the organisers noted that if there are not enough female registrants for the female competition, another male race will be held. The races are expected to attract some of the top male cyclists locally.
Apart from the cycling races the day’s event will also see the feature 10 relay events, softball cricket and football as well as a dominoes competition.
