IT was an exceptional day for both Kristian Jeffrey and Kevin Persaud when the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club ran off its first National Race of Champions.
Jeffrey, piloting his Mitsubishi Evolution and Persaud, aboard his Kawasaki ZX6-R thrilled the crowd in the Group four and Superbike classes respectively at the South Dakota Circuit.
In the Superbike class, it took Persaud little time to stamp his authority on the pack, demoting John Bennett on three occasions to second and Ravi Singh to third in the last race,
Persaud opted to start at the back of the pack, moving into the lead three laps later and eventually coasting to a clean sweep of the Superbike class.

It was almost a carbon copy in Kristian Jeffrey’s case, with the driver only having to the fight off the challenges of his father in the first race before taking the other two easily.
“This was a great warm-up for me as I head to England to compete in the Radical series this year. I want to thank my mechanics for ensuring that I had a trouble-free day,” Jeffrey said.
Group three had mixed results with Stefan Jeffrey picking up two firsts and a second, Danny Persaud one first, one second and Nazim Gafoor one second, one third.
There was also a win in the Starlet Cup for Motilall Deodass who also joined in the Group three fun, to pick up a third-place finish as well.
Group two was shared by Chet Singh and Shan Seejattan, Singh taking race one ahead of Shan and Daniel Deokie while the results were reversed in favour of Shan at the expense of Chet and Haniff Mohammed.
The third race saw Chet win ahead of Shan and Andre Danraj.
At the Street-tuner class, the wins were shared equally between Narine Dasrat and Azad Hassan, with the third racing being called off due to bad light.
Daniel Deokie beat out Adrian Fernandes and Sharima Khan to the first spot in the Sport-tuner class while race two featured the same winner, Hassan second and Adrian Fernandes third.
Race three was won by Deokie again, ahead of Fernandes and Hassan.
