App to give Linden global platform

LINDEN’S tourism and agriculture potential, investment opportunities, local production and services, among others will be available at the palm of one’s hand as the town gears up to launch its own mobile application.

The app that is now ready for installation on Apple and Android devices provides insight into the mining town and what it has to offer for business, accommodation, recreation, agriculture and tourism.

Its official launch is slated for the upcoming Linden Town Week celebrations.

Photos of the beautiful town can be viewed, while app users browse the several options. The ‘About’ option catch line is ‘Linden’, the place where love meets gratitude’, has information on the town’s regional officials and a detailed history of its establishment.

Other options include hotels, restaurants, upcoming events, shopping plazas, non-governmental organisations, religious organisations, banking institutions and local news.

Linden Mayor Carwyn Holland, who was instrumental in the development of the mobile application, said it aims to expose Linden’s wealth, both locally, regionally and farther afield.

The app will receive continuous updating and will also feature local producers and agro-processors, as well as advertise job opportunities.

“This app has the potential to tap into over 200 or more jobs. Our elderly need better home care. Our tourism is ready for take-off. Our farm products can be made ready for overseas shelves and it’s time Linden retake its rightful place as the standard bearer of Guyana’s economy,” Holland said.

The Linden Mayor said the town is pregnant with opportunities, and the app, which also promotes green initiatives, is a huge step in marketing the town to the world.

The app can be downloaded at both Apple ITunes and Google Play Stores.
