James Bond is new Chess Federation president

ATTORNEY-at-Law James Bond was on Sunday unanimously voted in as president of the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) following their Annual General Meeting and Elections at Olympic House.
Bond will have Frank Farley and Yolander Persaud as his vice presidents as well as former president Irshad Mohamed.
Natasha Singh will serve as the Federation’s Secretary and Davion Mars as Treasurer.
Anthony Drayton, Maria Thomas and Ryan Singh are the Committee Members.
National Champion and one of the best Chess players in the region,Wendell Meusa,has accepted the position of trainer with the Federation embarking on an extensive drive to spread the game of Chess across Guyana.
Meanwhile, Bond,in his address as the Federation’s newly-elected president, recommitted his pledge to women’s chess and also committed himself to working with the differently-abled.
Bond,in the presence of representatives from Berbice, indicated that the formation of a Berbice Chess Association is high on his executive’s agenda.
Farley echoed some of the sentiments expressed by Bond, and pointed out that he’s excited about the future of the sport in Guyana under the new Federation.
Also present was Guyana Deaf Association representative Sabine McIntosh,who shared her vision of seeing Chess being played by persons with disability throughout Guyana.
