WITH the racing season off to a flyer thanks to the Reaction drag meet last weekend, competitors are now shifting gears to the first circuit race of the season, the first National Race of Champions set for April 2.
One such competitor is Nasrudeen Mohamed, who will be competing in the sport tuner class as well as making his debut in group two with a Honda Civic.
Chronicle Sport caught up with him yesterday as he was getting some work done on the machine and he spoke of his plans to hit the season running, adding that he is looking forward to his continued fortunes from 2016.
“So far, I haven’t had any time to get onto the track and do any practice. But the mechanics are doing their job. In that (sport tuner) class, it stays standard. Nothing much I have to do but to get some time on the track and I’ll be good,” he added.
“The biggest threat would be the same person when we were down in Group 1, Daniel Deokie. He’s the only person I see as a threat. “
Group two is just to get the experience in that class with the better drivers, gain that experience. I mean I’m going to win but it’s going to be hard because the more experienced drivers are there.”
His car is sponsored by Jumbo Jet.
Meanwhile, the event’s sponsors include Ansa McAl through the STAG Beer brand, ExxonMobil, Fly Jamaica, Seaboard Marine, Tony’s Auto Spares, Japarts, Choke Gas Station, CARICOM Auto Sales, E Networks, S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies, Truck Masters and Jialing.
