TWO-time champions Wisburg Secondary claimed another title on Monday when they registered a 2-0 win over Mackenzie High School to take the 2016 Edward `Screw’ Richmond tournament honours, while defending champions Christianburg/Wismar ‘Multi’ Secondary were beaten into fourth position after losing 5-4 on penalties to Linden Technical Institute (LTI).
Playing in the postponed final from last year due in part to the inclement weather and then the sudden passing of Organising Secretary of the Linden Chapter of the Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Foundation, James Craig, Wisburg were able to emerge victorious after strikes from Joel Isaacs and Brentley Allicock.
In that championship game, the Wisburg players were also able to cart off the top honours at stake through Isaacs who was adjudged the Top Striker, Allicock the Best Midfielder, Shamar Sanchez the Best Defender and the Best Goalkeeper taken by Jonathan Copeland, just back from the National Under-17 tour to Martinique.
The third-place game was decided from penalty kicks after a nil-all stalemate and LTI prevailed over Christianburg/Wismar Secondary 5-4. Making the presentation to the winning Wisburg Secondary School was Coordinator Kevin DeJonge, (Joe Chapman)
