Armed men target Chinese business …three in custody

SEVEN men armed with crowbars and knives, early Friday morning robbed employees of a well-known Chinese businessman, carting off with a bottle of Hennessey, one laptop and cell phones.Commander of ‘D’ Division, Leslie James, told the Guyana Chronicle that the armed robbery occurred at approximately 03:00hrs at the premises of Chinese national Su-San, who operates the Ocean View Chinese Restaurant and sells haberdashery and spare parts for vehicles at Goed Fortuin Public Road, West Bank Demerara.

According to the Commander, the group of robbers entered the compound, which houses three buildings, including the Chinese eatery, a house for employees and the residence of Su-San; they gained access to the house with the employees. There, they tied up the workers after waking them up from their beds and took away cell phones, a laptop, and one bottle of Hennessey. They escaped via the rear of the premises which leads to a dam.

James said three men, who hail from River View Ruimveldt area in Georgetown, are in custody pending investigations, while the hunt is on for the other suspects.
