Permanent Secretary of the Public Health Ministry Trevor Thomas has been relieved of his duties. His service came to an end on March 1, 1017
Minister of State Joseph Harmon made the announcement earlier today during his weekly post-cabinet briefing at the Ministry of the Presidency.
A Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the unauthorised disclosure of information on the procurement of pharmaceuticals at the Ministry of Public Health had recommended that Thomas be fired.
Thomas was replaced by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, who will act until a substantive appointment is made. However, though Thomas has been relieved of his duties, he will remain in the Public Service.
