Local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Red Thread staged a peaceful protest outside the Ministry of Finance today, calling for government to review the newly implemented tax measures.

The group believe that the new tax imposed in 2017 are burdensome to the working class, and that Guyanese are already finding it difficult to survive in this economy. Red Thread says that the coalition government needs to re-examine Value Added Tax (VAT) on private education, electricity, water, medical supplies and services.
