St Kitts, Haiti suffer heavy CONCACAF Under-20 losses

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (CMC) – St Kitts and Nevis suffered their second straight heavy defeat in the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship when they slumped to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Panama.Playing in Group B here Tuesday, the Kittitians held out well in the opening half but then conceded three second-half goals to lose their second game, following on from their heavy 5-1 thumping to Haiti last Saturday.
In the other Group B encounter, Haiti went down 4-1 to United States, stunned by a hat-trick by Brooks Lennon who scored in the 28th, 53rd and 58th minutes.
The results left Panama as the only unbeaten team with six points, with United States second on three points – only ahead of Haiti courtesy of a superior goal difference.
St Kitts are bottom without a point or win.
The Caribbean side fell behind six minutes before the half when Andres Andrade teamed up with Isidoro Hinestroz to get his shot past goalkeeper Akimbah Francis, who only managed to get a hand to it.
Three minutes after the resumption from half-time, Panama doubled their lead when Leandro Avila got on to the end of a through ball from Ricardo Avila and finished clinically.
And St Kitts were further in trouble when Leandro Avila beat Francis from the spot in the 57th minute for the first of his two back-to-back goals.
His second goal – eight minutes later – was a long range volley set up by Andres Peñalba.
To add insult to injury, the Kittitians finished the game with 10 players after Xavier French was sent off in the dying seconds.
