COURTS Guyana Limited sponsors Mash cycle road race today

FURNITURE and appliance giants COURTS Guyana Limited will today sponsor a criterium cycle race in the Ancient County of Berbice beginning at 09:00hrs.The event is open to all cyclists affiliated to member-clubs of the Guyana Cycling Federation and is expected to attract the best of the country’s cyclists.
The event will wheel off from outside the COURTS Store at Main and St Ann’s streets, New Amsterdam and senior and junior riders will undertake a 20-lap journey around New Amsterdam, while the veterans will take part in a 10-lap contest.
The juveniles will battle five laps while the boys 12-14 years of age as well as the females will contest a two-lap event.
Riders in the BMX category will ride for one mile beginning from Alphonso Square at Tacama Turn and finish in front of the COURTS store.
Regional Chairman David Armogan and COURTS Berbice Branch Manager Stanley McKenzie will send the cyclists on their way at 09:00hrs.
The top six overall finishers as well as the top five veterans, the top four juveniles, the top three females and the top three BMX cyclists will all be rewarded for their efforts.
Eight prime prizes are also at stake in the event which is being coordinated by Randolph Roberts, coach of the Flying Ace Cycle Club.
The defending champion is Orville Hinds of Team Evolution.
