Showstoppers $450 000 richer after stealing the show 2-0 from Hustlers

A brilliant all-round performance from Showstoppers ensured that they went home $450,000 richer when the West Demerara Colors/Guinness Street Football challenge concluded Friday night.
Playing in front of a capacity crowd at the Pouderoyen Tarmac, the Showstoppers did everything right, pressing when they needed to and defending in the right situations to come out on top.
A Dexroy Adams double (7th and 35th) ensured the game finished in favour of the Showstoppers

It was not all smooth sailing for the eventual winners as there were several scares on goal which were either cleared or strayed from the target, while numerous other plays were built up but fizzled out.
According to captain, Hubert Pedro, his team played as they should, adding “We had a great game, we played to plan and the guys came out on top. We are happy that we won and we will await the national tournament.”
Meanwhile, in the third place playoff, ESPN went down 1-0 to the Money team with Amoniki Buntin pealing the decisive part in the 17th minute

In the earlier semi-finals, ESPN went down to Hustlers 2-1 on penalties after tying up the game 2-2 during regulation time.

Hustlers’ John Waldron (7th) and Kwame Holder (14th) put ESPN on the back foot early before Leroy Lindie (22nd) and an own goal in the 24th took the game to penalties.

The other semi-final saw Showstoppers needle Money Team 1-0 through Adams (8th)

For finishing second, the Hustlers were presented with $150,000 and a trophy while third placed Money Team got $100,000 and ESPN, $50,000
