THE cyclist who was killed in an accident on February 1 on the Inner Bagotville, West Bank Demerara Public Road, is yet to be identified, police say. Reports are that the accident occurred around 19:30hrs, and that the cyclist was killed when a minibus, bearing registration number BKK 9004, overtook another vehicle and slammed into him.
The mangled body of the cyclist, who is of East Indian descent, was retrieved several feet away and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital by a public-spirited citizen.
One Inner Bagotville resident said that he had heard a loud sound, but thought at the time that a minibus had fallen into a pothole. But upon enquiring later, he discovered that it was a collision between a man on a BMX bicycle and a Route 31 minibus.
The police are asking that anyone with information that may lead to the victim’s identification to contact them on telephone numbers: 264-2357, 268-2328, 268-2329, 268-2343, 227-2272, 225-6411, 268-2600, 911, or the nearest police station.
