2017 Limacol round-robin knock-out football…

Eagles surge on Primo’s brace, Dem Amstel humble Pouderoyen 2-0

EAGLES United and Den Amstel were both winners on Friday evening as matches in the 2017 Limacol round-robin knock-out football tournament continued at the Leonora Stadium.
On the penultimate day of the first round of matches, the first game got off to a flyer, as the East Coast-based side took the lead through national forward Trayon Bobb, who latched on to the end of a cross and slotted home in the 17th minute.

However, just before the close, a one-on-one effort which stemmed from an earlier aerial pass into the box was converted by Eagles’ Kelon Primo, bringing the game level.
Not even a spell of power outage could keep this game from having a winner as the West Coast side was forced to shift Bobb all over the field in order to provide a break through, though it was their opponents that would take the lead.
Primo again scored for the Linden-based Eagles, catching the advancing keeper off his mark and making him pay in the 69th.

Game-two was all Den Amstel from the start as they took the fight to the opposition.Their first goal came after a failed backward header for clearance only launched the ball into the path of the a charging Gideon Payne who did not waste it.

Andre Hector would then seal the deal for the side in the 53rd minute.

Action continued last night at the GFC ground ,following a venue shift due to the unavailability of the Mackenzie Sports Club ground. In the first game, Winners Connection took on Grove Hi-Tech while Milerock tackled Northern Rangers.

The winner of the tournament will take home $500,000 and a trophy while the second, third and fourth placed teams will receive $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 respectively.

Additionally, the winner of each group will receive $100,000 while the respective finishers will pocket $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 apiece.
