Man jailed for felonious wounding

A MAN was on Friday sentenced to 40 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of felonious wounding back in April last year.It is alleged that on April 25, at William Street, Kitty, Kerry Dick, 21, of 15 Pike Street, Kitty, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Donald McKenzie.

The matter was heard by city Magistrate Faith McGusty and was prosecuted by Police Prosecutor Sean Blackman, who called 10 police witnesses to testify. According to the police’s facts, on the day in question, Dick went to McKenzie’s home looking for him and he opened fire on him. Fortunately, McKenzie was hit only to his right hand and he managed to escape from Dick.

Dick was also charged with robbery under arms, escaping lawful custody and smoking an illegal substance.
