Mother, son robbed $2M in cash, gold …two in police custody

 

A WOMAN and her son were robbed Tuesday night at Crane Village, West Coast Demerara of gold, cash and jewellery, totalling some $2M.According to a police report, 24-year-old Hanson Forde, who is an excavator operator and his mother Dawn Martin, 40 years, both of Crane Housing Scheme, were attacked around 20:20hrs.

It was noted that the victims were in the bottom flat of their two-storey home conversing, when the suspects pounced on them through an eastern door which was left opened. The police report noted that the act was carried out by four identifiable men, two of whom were armed with handguns.

One of the armed men discharged two rounds towards the ceiling, after which they relieved them of the items and fled. The victims were relieved of several pieces of gold jewellery, two ounces of raw gold, two cellular phones and $60,000.00 cash, Guyana currency.

Two suspects, both 19 years old, have been taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation. Two (2) .32 spent shells were retrieved at the scene.
