Men found with AK 47 to be charged today

THE three men who were arrested Sunday night at a house in Campbellville with one AK-47 assault rifle and one 9mm handgun will be charged and placed before the court today, police said.They are expected to be charged with illegal possession of an AK 47 rile and the unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition. They have been identified as Teon Alleyne, 30, a miner of Long Creek, Soesdyke/Linden Highway; Andre Pollydore, 29, a miner of Lamaha Place, Georgetown and Lloyd Roberts, 35, a miner of North Ruimveldt and 81, John Street, Campbellville.

Police had placed the men on an identification parade to ensure that they are not wanted in connection with any other crimes. Swift action by ranks of the Guyana Police Force resulted in the apprehension of the men in the John Street, Campbellville house where the lawmen found two illegal firearms and eighty rounds of ammunition.

This newspaper was told that the owner of the house is a UK-based resident and the house was rented through a local real estate firm to what was believed to have been a couple,for $150,000 per month.
