Over the years, the RHTYSC Farfan and Mendes Under-15 team have won the Berbice championship five times and have produced a total of 17 Under-15 national players and 43 Inter-county players for Berbice, with players of the calibre of Assad Fudadin, Abdel Fudadin, Delbert Hicks, Royston Crandon, Shevon Marks, Abdel Fudadin, Shawn Perreira, Shemaine Campbelle, Plaffina Millington, Dominic Rikhi, Naresh Mahadeo, Parmanand Narine, Murphy La Rose, Arif, Junior Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson and Sylus Tyndall benefiting from the sponsorship.
Campbelle, Crandon and Fudadin have since gone on to represent the West Indies at different levels over the years. They are currently the defending Berbice champions.
Farfan and Mendes Limited Marketing Executive, Onai Vasconcellos, in brief remarks, stated that his company was pleased to be associated with the RHTY&SC, as it has successfully represented the Farfan and Mendes brand with pride, passion and discipline.
Meanwhile, Lucas Arthur has been appointed captain of the team for the 2017 season while Jonathan Rampersaud will serve as his deputy.
As part of the club’s plan to expose younger members to leadership duties, Simon Naidu will serve as manager while veteran member Delbert Hicks is the coach.
The sponsorship for 2017 is worth $240 000 and will provide for balls for game and practise sessions, transportation, snacks and cricket gear.
